Tim Flach

Tim Flach’s practice explores how photography can bridge the gap between humans and the natural world. Working at the intersection of art and science, his images move beyond traditional wildlife representation to reveal animals as individuals with character and personality.

In the age of AI, Flach also considers how the rise of gen-AI is reshaping questions of authenticity and trust in the photographic image. His book Feline reflects this evolving landscape, asking what it means to believe what we see.

Flach invites a reconsideration not only of how we see the natural world, but also of how photography continues to shape our understanding of truth, connection, and our responsibility to the natural world.

Tim Flach is a photographer known for his stylised animal portraits. He has dedicated his career to documenting biodiversity and conveying empathy for our planet’s endangered creatures.

Driven by a desire to share stories of the natural world, he has been collaborating with scientists to research how imagery can better lead to pro-environmental outcomes.

Flach has six main bodies of work which have been exhibited worldwide, including shows at Museums of Natural History, from Paris to Beijing. He has seven international award-winning books translated into multiple languages. His latest publication, Feline, is scheduled for release in Fall 2025.

Tim has an Honorary Doctorate from the University of the Arts London (Norwich) and is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society. He is also a Senior Research Fellow (Artist in Residence) at the Centre for Eudaimonia and Human Flourishing at Linacre College, University of Oxford and President of the Association of Photographers.

He lives in London with his wife and son.
