Valda Bailey
I am a freelance photographer living in Sussex. I first became passionate about photography when I was 14.
My approach to photography is greatly informed by my background in painting and my influences come as much from artists as photographers. I am motivated by colour and form and the tension and dynamism that these components can bring to an image.
My objectives are to portray an interpretation of a scene rather than a literal representation. I make my images using camera movement and multiple exposure – two techniques which help to create abstract shapes and blur extraneous detail.
I teach impressionist photography for Light and Land Photographic Workshops run by Charlie Waite and run print workshops for the Fotospeed Academy.
I am represented by the Bosham Gallery, Sussex, MMX Gallery, London and Sohn Gallery, Lenox, Mass.
