Glyn Dewis

There’s a gap that most photographers know well: you finish an edit, you’re happy with what’s on screen, you hit print, and what comes out of the printer is a different image entirely. Colours are off, the blacks look flat, and the whole thing just doesn’t match what you were looking at. This session is about closing that gap.

Drawing on the content of his new How-to Print book, Glyn Dewis walks through the complete journey from a calibrated screen to a finished, accurate print. The session is built around practical understanding rather than technical overwhelm, making it accessible whether you’re printing at home or sending files to a professional lab.

The session covers:

Screen Calibration – Why your monitor is almost certainly lying to you, and what to do about it. Glyn explains how calibration works, why it matters as the starting point for everything that follows, and what a properly calibrated screen actually gives you.

Colour Management – From colour spaces to ICC profiles, Glyn demystifies the system that controls how colour moves from your camera, through your editing software, and out to the printer. Topics include the practical differences between colour spaces, how Photoshop and Lightroom handle colour under the hood, and how to use soft proofing to preview a print on screen before a single sheet of paper is used.

The Printing Process – Putting it all together. Glyn covers printer profiles, paper choices, rendering intents, and the settings that can make or break a print. Whether you’re working with a home inkjet or a fine-art lab, the principles are the same.

By the end of the session, attendees will have a clear, working understanding of why prints so often disappoint, and a straightforward process to follow so they don’t have to.
